Mary was not only a great historian, she herself was a piece of history. From a pioneer family in the area, she was truly a westerner. She worked on a ranch and met a real cowboy from a neighboring ranch and married. She was involved with 4-H, Cowbelles, Eastern Star, the Oldtimer Rendezvous in Pearce and the Cochise County Historical Society. All that while being the consummate wife, mother and aunt. Martha Stewart looks puny in Mary's wake. She was an animal advocate, community activist, historian and major player in Cochise County's history. She is irreplaceable. There is a Cochise County Historical Journal still available from the Cochise County Historical Society, dedicated to Mary which explains her life in more detail and pictures. It was written by Ethel Price. |
